Supernatural experiences involving elements from modern life, such as cartoons or technology, lead to new ways of looking at the origin of supernatural content: are they hallucinations, tulpas, shapeshifters – or something else? What happens when these experiences also involve psychic experiences? The presenter will share research from her forthcoming book, and discuss how different cultures identify the reality of supernatural beings. In particular, she will discuss out-of-body experiences in relation to Contactee encounters, and the possible mechanisms that underlie this.
