UFOs create a serious problem for mainstream cultural foundations. They create conditions that force the broader public to recognize that UFOs, and the people who engage with them, push against societal norms, institutions, and the many ideologies assumed to be ‘true.’ This lecture will explore the sociological factors which push UFOs into the cultural fringes and examine how humanity will deal with the possibility that we are not alone. If humanity is engaging with another intelligence, how do we cope, and what will happen to our society if and when Contact occurs?
