Synchronicity

by | Dec 31, 2024

Today I’d like to talk about synchronicities, having just experienced an incredible series of them myself.

Synchronicity is my favorite topic in and around the paranormal world.  I have experienced them in powerful, profound ways that are simply remarkable. For instance, I JUST NOW noticed that even the WORD Synchronicity has RON in it, which is a micro-synchronicity in its own right. 😊

The idea of synchronicity, as we now know it, began in the late 1800’s with Carl Jung who was the first to develop the concept.  He referred to synchronicity as a meaningful coincidence that occurs with no causal connections but seems to be deeply connected in its meaning. A Jungian follower might pay attention to such experiences, seeing them as signs or symbols that offer insights into their life’s journey.  Synchronicity emphasizes the interconnectedness of the individual and the universe and suggests that life is not purely governed by cause and effect, but also by meaningful patterns and events.

To one degree or another, I have experienced synchronicities most of my life. I didn’t necessarily recognize them as I do today, and I certainly didn’t use the word “synchronicity”.  When I was young I used the word “SIGNS” because I considered these occasional occurrences quite profound. One early event I remember took place when I was 16 years old. I remember my father strongly suggested, that I get new tires on my car.  As a teenager I was obsessed with my car, therefore I needed to get just the right tires. For those of you who can remember, back in those days they were the raised White Letter Tires. Growing up in Cleveland, and with winter quickly approaching, my father’s attitude was: just get new tires on that car ASAP!  It was a Saturday night, and I remember tossing and turning trying to decide which tires to get,  I was down to either Goodyear or Dunlop.  Early the next morning I woke up to this strange very loud buzzing noise.  It was so strange and loud that I went outside to see if I could figure out what it was. I looked up into the sky and coming over the treetops was the Goodyear Blimp!  It was on its way to downtown Cleveland to cover the Browns football game. I had my answer: get the Goodyears.  I did, and was so happy because I received a SIGN that guided me to the right decision.

There have been many of these “signs” throughout the years, and I believe it’s no coincidence that there have been more in the last 10 years since becoming immersed in this community.  I have been more aware of them, as synchronicities.

Again, I’m reminded of an incident that occurred on the 4th of July a couple of years ago when my friend Karri and I were driving to Las Vegas. During the ride, she was working on a crossword puzzle that we were having fun trying to guess the answers to. She had a clue that read, “HORSELESS CARRIAGE,” 4 Letters. That was a tough one, and we were clueless, so we worked around it to fill in the other letters.  We decided to stop and eat at the famous Peggy Sue’s Diner about halfway to Vegas.  As we got off the exit, Karri filled in the rest of the letters and it turned out the answer to “Horseless Carriage” was “Semi.”  We laughed because “semi” was not an answer either of us would have ever guessed.  We walked into Peggy Sue’s, which was empty, so we picked 2 seats at the counter. As soon as we sat down we both noticed a big toy semi-tractor trailer on the shelf behind the counter with the words “HORSELESS CARRIAGE” written on the side of it!

We got back on the road towards Las Vegas and decided to stop at the state line. As we took the exit, Karri referred to me as her “Bae.” I said, “What the hell does that even mean?”  assuming of course it was something derogatory.  She laughed and explained that her niece uses that term and it stands for,  “Before Anyone Else,” which is slang for a term of endearment.  We walked inside the casino which was Packed and we couldn’t even find an available slot machine to play.  Finally we noticed aa available machine and it happened to be a 2-seat machine which was perfect, so we sat down to play  together.  She went to insert her player’s card, but the last person had left their card in the slot.  As we pulled it out we read the name on the card that was left behind which read John Bae…B-A-E.  The Very word I first heard minutes ago.  We took this as a sign that we were in the zone and sure to clean up in Vegas. Sadly, that didn’t happen, but those were certainly fun synchronicities we experienced along the way.

Flash forward to my visit home this past Thanksgiving.  I went to see my friend Karri again, and we stayed up late and talked about all the strange things I like to contemplate. I brought up an idea I had heard decades earlier.  It was the idea that matter is made of 99.9% empty space at the subatomic level, so in theory, you can never REALLY touch anything because of the way atoms are spaced.  The next day I flew back to LA where I learned from my Producer Bri that I would be interviewing Anthony Peak the next day. To brush up on him, I went to YouTube and clicked on a random lecture.  Right away the lecture went into the scientific explanation of the idea that matter at the subatomic level is 99.9999996% empty space and therefore you can never technically really touch something. WOW…. I had just brought this same topic up with Karri the night before!  It’s a pretty obscure topic that I’ve probably only discussed a couple of times in my life, and one my friend had never even heard of.  Furthermore, Anthony went on to explain the basis for this “Egregorial Hypothesis.”   As an oversimplification, he was saying that perhaps otherworldly creatures are being created and manifested by our intentions.  In other words, “These Beings exist simply because you believe in them!”

The next morning I wake up early for the interview, and as I’m having some cereal, I flip on the TV and see the cartoon, Futurama. There’s an orangutan character dressed as a scientist who literally says at that very moment, “Things Don’t exist simply because you believe in them!” WHAT?  It’s NOT like I’m watching another physicist giving a lecture and he made a comment in direct opposition to Anthony’s.  I’m watching a cartoon!!!! It’s not as though I’m saying something fairly common like,  “Wow, I flew here on an airplane and now I see one in the sky. That’s not even a coincidence, that’s just something that happens.

Each of these things, my stating a pretty obscure scientific idea, then immediately hearing it from someone I’m about to interview randomly, and then seeing a cartoon that happens to state a comment exactly opposite to what Anthony’s overall hypothesis is, FEELS way beyond a million to one chance. There were 3-4 other similar synchronicities that were weaved into the previous 24 hours as well which just strengthened the uniqueness of the whole thing.  I have 5 or 6 1-in-a-million type events that happen in 24 hours, but that feels like a one in a quadrillion, and thus is a true Synchronicity.

Each of these feels so profound to me. They were very specific and unique, and they came from very unrelated, unexpected sources.  It was surreal and for a moment almost unsettling.  Then I was overcome with this feeling that this AMAZING thing had just happened to me, and at best it will be a tidbit I share with a few friends who, at most, will say that’s a good synchronicity. Then it will be done, it will be over.

At that moment it also hit me that it must be hard for someone who witnesses a UFO, or sees something anomalous for example let’s say a Bigfoot.  THEY are probably like OMG, the world just changed, this AMAZING thing just happened! However, at the end of the day, it will simply be, like synchronicity, just a thing that happened.  You had a UFO sighting, or a Bigfoot sighting, you recount the amazing details to your friends, the end.  In the moment it must feel like it should result in SO much more than just a little story of an experience.

Synchroneities are quite profound.  I have had many of these with our close-knit team at Contact in the Desert over the years, and even recently.  They have continued to confound me.  I always ask guests who believe in synchronicities what they thought it meant.  The usual response was something to the effect of, “It’s illustrating the interconnected nature of everything, or how the universe, or our higher self, tells us we are on the right path.”

That sounds, and feels, about right to me.

I hope you all have a GREAT holiday season.. and keep an eye out for those Synchronicities…
